Achara Beach


Achara beach is considered as a paradise beach especially for anglers, swimmers and for sunbathing. 
This beach is situated at a distance of 36kms from Kankavali and 22kms away from Malvan. This Achara beach is even regarded as one of the most charming beaches other than any beach such as Sindhudurga beach. Moreover, this Achara beach has a vast number of dolphins. Therefore, several aquatic lovers can certainly plan a trip for Achara beach during their vacations. Also to spot numerous dolphin tourists must plan their trip in between months from October to February. Not only the aquatic species but nature admirers will love this place as it contains various species of birds. In this season, from October to February, a fair number of migratory birds fly to this beach.


Tondavli Beach


Tondavali has clean virgin beach and from Talashil you can walk along the sea to Acharawhich is 9 Kms. away. This is a unique experience. Being near the Kalaval creek Tondavli has many water-sports options such as Sailing in the creek, riding water-scooter, Banana-ride etc. Here you can do ‘Dolphin-sighting’ without going in far into sea.


Munge Beach


This virgin beach is an ideal place for sunbath, looking into the cloudless cerulean blue sky with relaxing and calming sound of waves hitting the shore. The rhythmic pounding of the waves will repress your entire worries.  Very clean and beautiful white sand, bluish green fresh unpolluted water, coconut palm trees, natural shaped rocks, fishery boats.


Sindhudurg Fort


Sindhudurg fort is constructed  by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on a small Island called ‘Kurte’. It was the period of 1664. Considering direction of the wind & force of the rain water, using  500 Khandis of lead were bought, melted & sprayed at the base of the rampart. Near 4000 workers & 100 Portuguese toiled at the site under the vigil of 5000 Mavals (loyal). The stones of boulders required for the work were brought from far away Phonda & Amboli.
The circumference of the fort measured near about 3 Kms. The fort built on 48 acres of land. For construction of fort, lime is used for joining huge stones of boulders. The fort has 52 bastions. The fort barrier of the entrance is so skillfully made that the outsiders wanting to enter the fort does not come to know the existence. The entrance barrier (the main gate) made of the hardest type of wood (oomber), is 9 ft in height & 3.5 ft in width. Above that is Nagarkhana (built by Shahu) where drums were played to naval important events. The main barricade leads between two bastions. The left side bastion is 20 ft in height & the right one is 40 ft in height. To beat the force of the waves, shivaji had constructed 3 mighty defense walls parallel to foundation of fort.

Rameshwar Temple


Some destinations own such historical peculiarities which sets them apart from other ones. Place named Achara is one of them. It’s a small village in Malvan Taluka. We are all aware that in historical times people were gifted with “Inams, Jagirs or Watan(land)” by kings or emperors for their achievements. Achara too is Inam or Jagir, but it’s owner or Inamdar (landowner) is not a layman. Chhatrapati Shambhu Raje of Kolhapur gave this Inam to Shri Dev Rameshwar ( i.e. Lord Shiva). Achara boasts the historical temple of Lord Shiva, popularly known as ‘inamdar Shri Dev Rameshwar’ Architecture of the temple is grand and spectacular.


Kunkeshwar Temple, an ancient Shiva Temple is located in Kunkeshwar village, 14 Kms from Devgad town. A pristine beach with a very long stretch of seashore and white sand adds to the beauty of temple surroundings.
 This beautiful temple near beach has alluring architecture with reminiscent of South Indian style of temple architecture. Yadav Kings built this temple in 1100 A. D. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who rejuvenated this temple many times was a frequent visitor to this temple. This temple is also famous as Kashi of South Konkan. Every year a huge celebration takes place on the occasion of Mahashivratri, which keeps religious beliefs in constant sight of the multitudes. During the festival a large number of devotees throng this place with their families and friends. Thisvigilant Shiva deity bestows blessings on everyone who surrenders to its feet.
